E3 Announcement- New Gears of War game on the way!

sparta_character_e3marketing_final_opt-540x250-7e793edf8c32420ebcbee32eb67491ccI hope you have your COG tags ready, because coming this August, you’ll need them! The makers of Gears of War are dusting off the older versions and giving them a snazzy new upgrade to the Xbox One console! The original title has been remastered to 1080p and 60fps, plus new content added! You can even play online at 60fps! Many feel like the first Gears was the best, and those fans will definitely be scoring this remade version.

Even bigger news than the remastered Next Gen version, was the tease of a new Gears of War 4. During the Xbox press event today, the people at The Coalition played a sample of the upcoming release. It’s looks to be the most realistic GOW we’ve seen to date. The graphics look intense and the beasts are intimidating to say the least. Being a huge Gears of War fan, I must say this was one of the biggest announcements of the day for me. The upcoming game wont be released until the 2016 Holiday season. Oh the agony! Here’s some footage from today’s event-

Xbox One finally gives fans reverse compatibility!

The announcement that every Xbox fan has waited for came today during the Microsoft Xbox E3 event! With an upcoming update to the next gen console, fans will be able to play some of their favorite XBOX 360 titles on their Xbox One! There are a few upsides and a few downsides to this change, but for the most part, this ability will ensure console sales shoot through the roof this Christmas.

The update will work on every Xbox One console, and give users immediate access to their previously downloaded purchase from their Xbox 360, provided those titles have been approved and upgraded for release. This means that developers must approve their title for the new re-release. I expect most developers won’t have issue, since it will almost guarantee new sales of old titles. For example, if you didn’t start play Assassin’s Creed until Black Flag, you’ll most likely be able to purchase the previous installments and enjoy them all on one console. This is quite awesome.

Another great feature of the backwards compatibility is that upon inserting a 360 game disk, if the Xbox One can’t play from the disk, provided its a readable disk and not damaged, it will prompt a download of the digital version and you are set. The only downside about that is running out of space for all your awesome games!

The update won’t be available for Xbox One until the upcoming Holiday season. I’m sure we can survive the wait! For those of you don’t have an Xbox One, you’ll also be happy to know they’ve lowered the price to $349.

E3 Announcement! Brand New South Park Sequel coming!

maxresdefaultWe’re huge fans of the South Park television show, and have been since the beginning. The childish perverted humor is perfect for our mindset, as well as millions of others around the world. South Park: The Stick of Truth was an awesome role playing game based on different episodes of the show, but mainly the “Game of Thrones” parody. The game was absolutely hilarious, just like the show, so needless to say the legion of SP fans jumped for joy at today’s announcement from Ubisoft and new trailer. South Park: The Fractured But Whole looks as if it will shred the Stick of Truth into sawdust!

The boys will be playing as their super hero characters, alongside Cartman’s Coon! YES!!! Super Hero Action! You are sill the New Kid, and just like before, Stan, Kyle, and Kenny join in the story too. Their awesome alter egos include Mysterion, Toolshed, Human Kite, Mosquito, and Mint Berry Crunch. You help fight crime in the darker side of South Park.

The trailer gives little insight into the gameplay other than their intentions of changing the fighting sequence. I love the idea of actually being able to fight with weapons and powers, instead of controlled sequences. The sneak peak definitely leaves you wanting more! Check it out here!

Indie Survival Hit The Long Dark Launches New Game Preview Program on Xbox One

(Cumberland, British Columbia, Canada). June 15th, 2015.
During today’s media briefing at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, CA, Xbox announced Hinterland Studio Inc.’s The Long Dark as the first survival game to launch on Xbox One, and one of the first of a select number of titles coming to Game Preview on Xbox One, a new way for fans to purchase work-in-progress digital titles and participate in the development process by giving feedback to developers as they continue to update their games.
The Long Dark has already enjoyed significant success on Steam’s Early Access platform on the PC, selling nearly 350,000 units over nine months and garnering over 95% positive player reviews. The expertise that Hinterland has developed over the past months, and The Long Dark’s reputation as one of the highest quality community-informed titles, contributed to Microsoft’s choice to bring the game to its innovative new Game Preview on Xbox One program, a first on any console.
“We’re excited to offer a select list of games via Xbox Game Preview on Xbox One, enabling Xbox players the opportunity to get involved with the development of innovative game experiences with excellent development teams behind them by offering feedback throughout the development process.” said Chris Charla, Director of ID@Xbox. “Hinterland’s The Long Dark is the perfect example of the quality and innovation we anticipate in all our Game Preview titles.”
Hinterland’s survival experience, The Long Dark, has so far only revealed its non-narrative, freeform Sandbox survival mode. Season One of its highly anticipated episodic Story mode, featuring the voice talents of Mark Meer, Jennifer Hale, David Hayter, and Elias Toufexis, has been shrouded in secrecy, but will be free to all players who purchase the game through Game Preview on Xbox One when the Story mode launches later in 2015.
“We’re thrilled with how community-informed development has helped us improve the player experience in The Long Dark, providing us with invaluable feedback and significant development resources with which to achieve our full vision for our exploration-survival experience,” said Raphael van Lierop, Hinterland Studio founder and creative director, and director of The Long Dark. “Being able to partner with Xbox to bring survival games to the console audience for the first time is an incredible opportunity for us. We can’t wait to add Xbox players to our community and incorporate their feedback into how we continue building and improving the game. And when we launch Story mode later in 2015, we’ll be sharing it with an even bigger audience, paving the way for more episodes and future seasons well into 2016 and beyond.”
Game Preview on Xbox One will be available on the Xbox Store in a dedicated Game Preview section, starting Monday, June 15th, at 5:30PM PST. The Long Dark will be available for immediate purchase and download.

Xbox announces the Elite Controller

Xbox announced a brand-new controller for the Xbox One and Windows 10, called the elite controller. With a new directional pad, hair trigger locks to speed up firing action, and improved precision and accuracy, this new controller looks awesome. Most hardcore gamers use modded controllers to speed up their abilities, but the new Elite Controller seems to cover the bases.
We all have different things that we love about the different controllers for each console. I love the touchpad on top of my PS4 controller, but I don’t have the opportunity to use it very often. I also love the under pad action that the Wii U controller has because gives you comfortable use of your hands. The new Elite controllers take all of these abilities, and mix them into one controller.
Xbox has changed location of their paddles and place them underneath, giving you four different sensors to use. When playing my Xbox 360, one of my modded controllers used different bands to create this affect, and clearly Microsoft realized gamers wanted this ability when they designed their new controller
Another cool feature is the interchangeable pieces. For those of us still loving our custom controllers, this makes changing out the knobs and paddles a breeze. You can also change out the directional pad, a go with whatever piece works best for your gaming style. The new directional pad they created is going to give fighter game lovers incredible accuracy.

IN a world full of incredible indie game developers, crowd funding sites such as kickstarter, have helped launch games from developers that might not have that huge distribution backing. This doesn’t mean a game isn’t worthy, in fact, it’s quite the opposite. Giving gamers the opportunity to fund games THEY WANT has opened the door and caused an awesome flow creative genius. One of these such games is titled WE HAPPY FEW, created by Compulsion Games.

Now I absolutely love Compulsion games. They created an awesome game titled CONTRAST, that I played on my Xbox One. I loved this game, based on a child searching for her parents, who live inside the shadows. The story was brilliant, and the theme of the game play was beautifully intense. Movement was based on jumping in and out of shadows, making you really think about your next move.

WE HAPPY FEW is a survival game that takes place in a retro- futuristic, post WWII, dystopian English city. The population of Wellington Wells is all drugged out… on JOY! Your happy pill has worn of and you are trying to escape the city. Sounds like a simple plan right? These downers, as you’re character is referred to, learn about the true history of the crazed city and your past memories.

Check out the trailer, hit up the kickstarter, and help make this game a reality! Those who contribute get hooked up with alpha codes! It’s a win win!
